The GRDA would like to clarify some points with regard the Gozo Rural Airfield project.

The proposal was subject to a very wide public consultation during 2022 as part of the Regional Impact Assessment Studies carried out by the GRDA. The RIAS looked at the economic, social and environmental impact of the proposed project on Gozo.

Several one-to-one meetings were held with various entities including with the Xewkija Local Council on the 16th of May 2022. Indeed, such meeting is recorded in the Local Council’s minutes dated 17th May 2022 [https://lnkd.in/exU5Hxfy]. A similar meeting was held with Ghajnsielem Local Council on the 18th of May 2022 [https://lnkd.in/eza9xK6m]. Two public events were also held dated 19th and 20th of May 2022, during which several people took the opportunity to ask questions and forward suggestions.

Besides the RIAS carried out by the GRDA, a subsequent and separate process was triggered by the submission of the applicant with the Planning Authority.
